AP - The Obama administration is shelving an Eastern European missile defense plan that has been a major irritant in relations with Russia, a U.S. ally said Thursday. The Pentagon confirmed a “major adjustment” of the system designed to guard against Iranian missiles.

Study Finds Organic Foods are More Healthy

The French Agency for Food Safety (AFSSA) released a study last week that outlines a number of health benefits to eating organic food.

This comes on the heels of a UK study that said just the opposite. According to the AFSSA study, organic foods are not only more nutritious, but they’re safer. Here are the study’s main findings:

“White Pride” Stickers Found in MontCo High School

China could replace coal with wind

It’s clear that China is taking on renewable energy projects at a fast pace.  The country has doubled its installed wind power every year for the past five years and a new study shows the country should keep it up.  Researchers from Harvard and Beijing Tsinghua University have found that China could meet all of their electricity demands from wind power through 2030.

The scientists came up with meteorological and financial forecasts that show that China can run on wind alone.  They mapped the wind potential for different regions and then assumed that each had a smattering of 1.5 MW turbines.

Hofstra Rape: Student Lied About Incident: District Attorney

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities in New York say the Hofstra University student who told police that she had been gang-raped by five men on campus has recanted her story.

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice said in a statement released late Wednesday that the 18-year-old told law enforcement officials that the sex was consensual.

Rice says Nassau County Judge Robert Bruno then dismissed the charges against four of the men and ordered their release.
