British women dominated the World Cup women’s skeleton race in Calgary with Elizabeth Yarnold winning and Shelley Rudman taking the overall season title Thursday.

Amy Gough of Abbotsford, B.C., finished tied for third in the race with Rudman, who gained enough points to go past Marion Thees of Germany and take the crystal globe.

Anja Huber of Germany was second in the final stop on the World Cup circuit.

Rudman was runner-up to the World Cup champion the previous three seasons, so the victory was emotional for the 2010 Olympic silver medallist. Thees and Huber finished the season second and third respectively.

Yarnold posted a two-run time of one minute 55.93 seconds on the Canada Olympic Park track for her second win of this season. Huber was just over half a second back in 1:56.47.

Gough, not to be confused with Canadian luge team slider Alex Gough, and Rudman posted identical times of 1:57.57.

Mellisa Hollingsworth of Eckville, Alta., tied for fifth with Lucy Katherine Chaffer of Australia. Hollingsworth dropped from third in the overall rankings to fourth with her result.
