National Guard soldiers from Lufkin set to return to Iraq

The soldiers stood in the National Guard armory parking lot, laughing and joking with one another while waiting for the van to come pick them up to take them to Bastrop. In just four months, 19 soldiers from the 702nd company National Guard unit will deploy for a second tour in Iraq. They will do their jobs in temperatures that can get up to 120 degrees and work in the dirt and mud in a country where it’s not so simple to get laundry washed. The 702nd company, a military police unit, has been back for just more than a year since their last tour in Iraq, where they did jobs that included detainee
