Passenger bus rolls near Redwater, Alberta

An air ambulance is responding to a passenger bus rollover near Redwater, Alberta that has caused multiple injuries.

Some passengers are still trapped inside and efforts are underway to extract them. One person was flown to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton in serious condition.

The air ambulance is returning to the scene to transport at least one more patient, and possibly a third.

A critical care paramedic is at the scene to help ground ambulance crews, STARS Air Ambulance spokesman Cameron Heke told CBC News.

The rollover happened at 2:15 p.m. Friday on Highway 28, about 10 kilometres west of Redwater, northeast of Edmonton.

Highway 28 is closed in both directions.
